Today I present a case write-up shared with me by a Psychiatry Part 2 Board Exam candidate who was notified that she did not pass her live patient interview section of the exam. She requested my feedback on what may have gone wrong.  Read the case and see what you think may have been the issue(s) the examiners focused on.  And, by the way, I can guarantee you that this patient has a presentation and diagnosis that is extremely common on the psychiatry oral board exam.

Family Systems Therapy Part 1

Family Therapy comes in several versions. Some are based on psychodynamic principles and others on cognitive-behavioral constructs.  However, much of Family Therapy is based on Family Systems Theory which states that the family is its own self-contained system that is more than the sum of its parts.
