Shanti Mitchell, MD is a child and adolescent psychiatrist, educator, and academic leader with expertise in mood disorders, autism spectrum disorders, severe mental illness, and school-based mental health. As Program Director of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Henry Ford Health, she is deeply involved in the training and mentorship of future psychiatrists while maintaining an active clinical practice serving children, adolescents, and families.
Dr. Mitchell’s scholarly work focuses on improving mental health outcomes for youth through evidence-based treatment, mental health education, and community engagement. Her research has examined adolescent bipolar disorder, autism spectrum disorder, and the long-term outcomes of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) in children and adolescents. She has also been a leading voice in addressing stigma surrounding psychiatric treatment and promoting youth mental wellness in school and community settings.
