Neurology Certification Board Review FAQs
FAQs – Beat The Boards! Neurology Certification Board Review
Is Beat The Boards! different from other board reviews?
Yes, in three main ways:
1. Beat The Boards! board review is the most comprehensive option. More than just a Question Bank of practice questions, each course includes in-depth lectures in a familiar classroom setting presented by expert faculty. This means you get a topic-by-topic review of exactly what’s on the board exam in much greater detail than what you can get from QBank answer explanations.
2. Because the physician’s schedule is typically a hectic one, Beat The Boards! is optimized for on-the-go review. Components such as the audio-only lecture option, iOS and Android app for mobile review, and offline access capability, and a fully-illustrated board-mapped study guide make Beat The Boards! review easy to incorporate at any point in your daily routine.
3. The Triple Trust Guarantee not only gives you a full refund of your paid tuition* if you don’t pass the exam the first time after taking the course, but it also gives you an extra 10% and a free subscription renewal. This unprecedented guarantee serves to assure you of the confidence we have that Beat The Boards! content is exceptional.
*Tuition is defined as the amount you paid for your base course, and does not include optional course add-ons, such as purchase of online access extensions, and/or the live course attendance option (where available). If any promotional items, such as gift cards, are included with your purchase, the value of that promotional item will be deducted from your tuition.
Who produces Beat The Boards! Courses? Where do you get your faculty?
Beat The Boards! board review courses are produced by American Physician Institute for Advanced Professional Studies, LLC (API). API conducts dozens of courses and trains thousands of neurologists each year to pass their boards and stay up to date in their fields. Every single one of American Physician Institute‘s educational courses has full editorial independence, is free of pharmaceutical and industry sponsorship and is backed by an unbeatable guarantee. Because of its reputation for excellence, American Physician Institute is able to enlist many of the top faculty from the best universities, teaching hospitals and research facilities in the country to provide you with Category 1 CME educational activities.
Do you provide board review for other medical specialties?
Yes! In fact, we provide preparation for dozens of other specialty and subspecialty board exams. Check out www.AmericanPhysician.com for the full list.
Is it likely that my employer will cover my tuition?
Because all Beat The Boards! courses are approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, it is likely that your tuition will be reimbursed. You may be surprised at how many residency and fellowship training programs, group practices, and other employers pay for or reimburse you for such Category 1 educational activities. After all, it’s in everyone’s best interests to have you board certified. It really pays to ask your training director, medical director or administrator if you are eligible because some training programs and employers do pay for board exam training. And, if you work for the Federal Government, American Physician Institute is a certified business in the System for Award Management (SAM) database and can accept government checks and credit cards.
Does Beat The Boards! offer any free board review resources?

Board Exam Results and The Triple Trust Guarantee
Is Beat The Boards! Neurology Certification review pass-guaranteed?
Yes, all full courses are pass-guaranteed, and backed by our Triple Trust Guarantee. At any time, you can view the Triple Trust Guarantee Terms & Conditions.
What does the Triple Trust Guarantee cover?
If you purchase a course with a “Triple Trust Guarantee” and then do not pass your board exam for which the course was intended, API will issue a 100% refund of your paid tuition*, plus an additional 10%, plus free subscription renewal. The guarantee expires in the event the exam for which this course is designed is no longer offered by the certifying board.
* Tuition is defined as the amount you paid for your base course, and does not include optional course add-ons, such as purchase of online access extensions, and/or the live course attendance option (where available). If any promotional items, such as gift cards, are included with your purchase, the value of that promotional item will be deducted from your tuition.
The Triple Trust Guarantee sounds too good to be true—is it for real?
Yes, it’s completely real. Rest assured, API has always honored its guarantees and always will. The Triple Trust Guarantee is API’s way of demonstrating that it’s just as invested in your success as you are. After all, if you fail your board exam, API will pay a penalty. API will refund your paid course tuition in full, provide you with a 10% bonus, and a free subscription renewal. The guarantee ensures API doesn’t get paid for effort, only for passing results.
Does the Triple Trust Guarantee cover non-tuition course options and upgrades?
No. Course options and upgrades are non-tuition related. Therefore, these fees are not included in any guarantee-related refund payment made under the terms of the Triple Trust Guarantee.
What should I do if I don’t pass my board exam?
First, it’s important to remember that a non-passing result is not necessarily a reflection on your abilities as a neurologist. The way the ABPN tests you is not the same as the many ways you’re “tested” as a practicing neurologist. Check out this reassuring video from Dr. Jack – What To Do If You Fail Your Board Exam https://www.beattheboards.com/video-what-to-do-fail-your-board-exam/
More to the point, American Physician Institute can work with you to help you get over this professional hurdle. Give us a call!
I didn’t pass my board exam. How do I activate my course guarantee?
To activate your guarantee, you must notify American Physician of your failure to pass your board exam and submit a copy of your exam notification and scores. To be eligible for the refund portion of the guarantee you must submit your documents within 45 days of the date of your exam fail notification. To notify American Physician and submit your documents, go to your course dashboard and click on the “Guarantee” tab. Complete the form and attach your exam notification and scores. You will receive an email confirmation of receipt and someone will contact you shortly. “I enjoyed that this question bank covered so much of neurology, it was enjoyable to utilize for my board review for so many reasons. It has an abundance of questions, many questions were similar in style to help you memorize the ideas and diagnoses, felt it was very strong on straightforward principles in neurology, I also personally felt it was very close to the exam vignette. I also would do some videos during my free time and found them very helpful.”
Hamza Abbad, MBBS, Tuscon, AZ
“I’ve always had the worst time with testing. Like really the worst. I’ve always been good at what I do, but I’ve never been good on paper. I enrolled in Beat the Boards after finishing my final year of residency. I passed my boards first try without any issue. I was so sure I was going to have to avail myself of your guarantee. It was a really good feeling to put that behind me and now I use it to show people that one test doesn’t define the kind of doctor you’re going to be. I am now the program director at Florida Atlantic University and prior to that I was the program Director at the University of Florida. I have multiple awards to my name and I’ve been featured on national segments on stroke and cerebral vascular disease. Passing the boards opened up all of that for me, and I don’t know that I would’ve been able to do without Beat the Boards.”
Constance Katsafanas, DO, Boca Raton, FL
“Not only did this course help me feel prepared for exam day, but also I find that I am a better clinician after having taken this course. I am very grateful for this resource. The speakers were excellent and the question bank was also great. I appreciated the complexity and also the number of questions that were available, so that I could practice my timing and also work on my test-taking endurance. I would absolutely recommend this course to my neurology colleagues.”
Patricia Olson, MD, Bloomington, IN
“I was successful in passing the boards. The lectures were a useful review. Lectures were presented in a helpful format. I would recommend this course to others.”
Robin Whitehall, MD, Corpus Christi, TX
“Thank you to Beat the Boards and definitely to Jack Krasuski for making the course so palatable for the candidates. The excellent lecture series, material, and questions made the journey smooth to nail the board. I have used other review courses Question bank but I feel “Beat the Boards” is unparalleled and would build your confidence up so that to pass the exam would be smooth! I wish you all good luck for your journey of ABPN board within the boat of Beat the Boards! I do highly recommend to you all to consider!”
Ram Saha, MD, Richmond, VA
“The course is great and effective, staff are fabulous”
Rassan M Tarabein, MD, Fairhope, AL
“This course is fantastic! The quality of the lectures, and the way they are recorded and presented is highly professional, The course organization, formatting and ease of use is top notch. The speakers are very bright and well credentialed. The content of the lectures is extremely thorough. It’s content was pertinent and complete, for the examination I took (the ABPN Neurology MOC 10/16/2019). Essentially, every topic and question was presented at some point during the course. I highly recommended taking this course, for both the initial certification and the MOC examinations. This is my second recertifications exam. I plan to maintain a yearly subscription to the course and continue using it as an ongoing resource, and to refresh my knowledge of conditions less often seen in clinical practice. Thank you to all the speakers! Superb job!”
Raul Montejo, MD, Fort Pierce, FL
“After failing my ABPN certification the first time, I knew I had to take a course to study. I couldn’t just rely on question banks alone. I started using the videos in January and re-watched them again following them up with the questions provided with the course. I felt that it allowed me to get the depth to pass the exam this time around. I would definitely recommend this course to certification exam test-takers. Worth the money course because I passed with it.”
Brittany Poinson, MD, Owings Mills, MD
“The course laid out a plan for me that catered to my learning style. I loved the videos with their transcripts for me to review afterwards. The question bank was also comparable in difficulty of content to the real exam!”
Matthew Chung, MD, Tampa, FL
“Completing the course means you cover every topic which is important to the Boards. I viewed every lecture and completed the questions, and I passed the Boards. The handouts were also useful. The course is a useful addition to your preparation repertoire.”
Niloofar Yari, MD, Plano, TX
