Read What Your Colleagues Are Saying About This Course
“This year I was due for my Board recertification for Adult Psychiatry. I also decided to take my Child and Adolescent Boards. For all three exams I took the Beat the Boards! course. I passed all three of them on the first attempt with no problems (recertification in Adult, the written for the C&A as well as the live exam). I heartily recommend the course to everybody. It shortens the time to study tremendously. I work in private practice 40-42 hours per week, I'm a single mom of two busy adolescents and Beat the Boards! made it much, much easier for me. Thank you.”
Daniela White, MD, Houston, TX
“I am writing to inform you of the good news: I passed the MOC Boards! It's no small miracle considering that at the time I took the exam I had not been practicing for 6 years (after a career detour into interior design) and was the primary caretaker of my two sons, ages 9 & 6. I was sweating bullets about the exam; your three-day course and only 1 week of studying were all I had time for, but clearly it was enough. I want to thank you for your genuine caring and commitment to the attendees of the course, and your thoughtful and informative follow-up emails after the course. My Current practice is up and running, I have the boost of confidence I needed, and I am very grateful. Thanks again, I will not hesitate to recommend your review course to colleagues.”
Scott Lauze, MD, San Francisco, CA
“My review for the Child and Adolescent and General Psychiatry actually started about 4 months prior to the exam date. I believe that the “Beat The Boards” course materials were instrumental in my preparation, and passing the Board examinations. Having taken several practice exams early in the study process, and taking others later in the process my sample/practice tests scores increased by about 20-25% after preview, which clearly made a difference in my knowledge and comfort with the examination process. Topics are covered well enough to extrapolate and make a “good educated guess” on “difficult” questions that are just “really great questions,” and so there was only a very occasional question that was unfamiliar in topic or content. I am pleased with the review in Child and General Psychiatry for the purpose of the Board Exams, and also to improve my current knowledge in psychiatry.”
Gary Rosen, MD, Boulder, CO
“The lectures were very helpful. They are in a very user-friendly format. The quizzes were especially helpful in preparing for the board exam. I did the whole course by webinar and was able to study when convenient for me. And best of all – I passed both the child/Adolescent and Adult Recertification Boards in one day, saving me time & money. It’s obvious he genuinely cares about the docs who take his course.”
Rama Thiruvengadam, MD, Kealakakua, HI
“The course was excellent. Having the videos meant I could rewind things I wasn't clear on as many times as I needed. The course covered everything required to pass the exam and a whole lot more valuable information for daily practice. I would highly recommend it to anyone, not just to pass the boards but to refresh your memory and learn some new information to improve your practice.”
Victoria Soyannwo, MD, Tucson, AZ“Just like I did 10 years ago after your training/course and I passed my board, I passed my recertification again. Thank you for the over-preparation as the exams came easy and I completed all sections in less than 180 minutes. See you at the Child recertification. Again, thank you and your great staff.”
Olatunde Fatinikun, MD, Sylvania, OH
"I am so happy to let you know I passed my MOC-recertification exam with a very high score of 85% even though the average score for 2016 was 66%. Your course was very useful.I really put in time studying for it. The lectures on each topic was thorough & amazingly comprehensive. Super speakers especially you. The lectures are full of information that is clinically useful. Worth every penny. Best in field. The best education investment I have made. Thank you for this course which made my future dream come true.”
Eliza Wilfred, MD, Philadelphia, PA
“Beat The Boards! is the best review course that I have ever used. Unlike a lot of other review courses, the material was well organized, clinically relevant, allowed for self-assessment, and could be digested in short amount of time. These key elements provided me with the tools to pass the MOC in Psychiatry with flying colors!!! I also use Beat the Boards! in my busy Inpatient and Outpatient Clinical Practice.”
Tongii Shavers, MD, Biloxi, MS
“This course was my main preparation for the MOC exam and provided a focused approach to the material, excellent lectures and good practice questions to help me with the question style. I am grateful for the course and know that its organization and structure helped me pass this exam. I will recommend your course to my colleagues.”
Lorraine Skach, MD, Keizer, OR
“I passed with very high score literally getting 100 % in many. Working as a Chief Medical Officer of a multi specialty group, I never got enough time to read so heavily relied on this course. My scores were even impressive to myself ( a joke ). Very pleased and could not be more pleased.”
Sarfraz Khan, MD, Fishers, IN
“I passed my MOC exam in 02/16. The MOC review course in general psychiatry was very helpful, I liked the format of the review course - it is concise, to the point and relevant- including the pictures and tables. I encourage everyone who is taking the MOC exam to take the course.”
Radosveta Stoyanov, MD, Alto, MI
“I passed my General Psychiatry MOC exam, as a child and adolescent psychiatrist who only sees children and adolescents and patients in their 20's who I have seen for 10 years or more. The course in Las Vegas in September was enormously helpful - thank you.”
Jenny McKay, MD, Reno, NV
“Beat The Boards! helped fully prepare me. It was user-friendly, easy to follow, outstanding lectures and review, and sample questions were extremely helpful. I scored very high on the MOC Boards, which I would not have passed without your course. I took a couple different courses and the others didn’t compare to Beat the Boards!”
James Manning, MD, Wellsboro, PA
“The courses provided a comprehensive review of psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry. I passed the combined MOC exam on the first try. And just as importantly I appreciated the review of the latest material for my practice. I would definitely recommend the course to others.”
Colleen Connor, MD, Norristown, PA

Thanks for your help in this process, which is very much appreciated by this psychiatrist in Puerto Rico!!! Take care and much success in your endeavors!”
Carlos Diaz, MD, Ponce, Puerto Rico

Robert Robinson, MD, Beaumont, TX
“Passed easily. Great class. Enjoyed lectures and I would like to teach them.”
Edward Chai, MD, Armonk, NY
“The information in your course was probably overly inclusive and at a level more difficult than the exam itself. That being said, I don't think I would change anything. It served as a really good update as much as an asset for the exam itself. I am very glad I did the online version, because I was more able to focus on the information at home than I would have been in a lecture hall. I felt prepared for the exam and I did well. I had a lot of time left over---even took a nap for 15 minutes, because I went straight through the test without a break and it was tiring. I could have paced myself better. I remember thinking that there were only about 3 questions that I had NEVER heard of. I can't remember what two of them were, but one was about which personality disorder characteristically does the worst with ECT. I think I missed that one. I would definitely recommend this course to a colleague.”
Marcia Adelman, MD, Lebanon, OH
“The course was as extensive and thorough as I had hoped. It was focused on Board-relevant information that seemed to be the highlights of the talks. All staff were impressive, not only in their backgrounds, but also in their instructional and educational abilities. They seemed real in terms of their genuine interests in our success as well as knowing we all came from different backgrounds and specialties. I feel that I will leave knowing how to monopolize the next 4 weeks before I take the exam.”
Kimberly Kumer, MD, Canton, OH
“I want to thank Dr Krasuski and his team for the wonderful training they did to prepare me for the MOC boards. I was very well prepared to take the combination examination in order to maintain my dual board certifications. The training even provided new information I was not aware of, such as the latest literature in the growing understanding of how the borderline personality develops in adolescence.”
Alfredo Soto, MD, Lake Oswego, OR
“I have attended a Master Pharmacology Course before and I chose to sign up for this MOC review because of my prior experience with this group. Again, I have been pleased with the level of professionalism, courtesy, and hospitality from the staff. More importantly, the course materials are comprehensive. The speakers are knowledgeable in their areas of expertise. The online access to videos/practice exams/materials is superb!”
Marilou Patalinjug Tyner, MD, Charleston, WV
"There is no way I could have felt prepared for the recertification examination without Beat the Boards! I not only work full time in my busy private practice but have a very busy personal life. Beat the Boards! made the review easy by summarizing the details I needed to know. I went into the test room confident that my success in the test was a sure deal.”

"Thank you Beat The Boards! The course was very focused and thorough. I am sure it saved me months and months of study time and eliminated my anxiety about taking a test after ten years. I love that all the material is accessible online; the ten practice exams on the website are excellent. This is a very handy tool - I can even fit in some review time at the office.”
Maha M. Abdel-Kader, MD, Ashburn, VA
"I attended this course in Las Vegas. The course covers every aspect of board recertification. Dr. Jack is an expert in geriatric psychiatry and there were quite a few questions in geriatrics. Due to this course I was able to finish exam in 2 and half hours whereas the allotted time to complete was 6 hours.”
Syed Naqvi, MD, Laurel, MD
"Beat The Boards definitely prepared me for Recertification in Psychiatry. This is the first time I took any tutorial. Andrew Klompus, MD, San Francisco, CA
"The speakers are great! Very knowledgeable. I like how they all emphasize what are favorite questions on the boards. I also like how we can access the same lectures online, especially for people who have to leave early. I like how they give test-taking tips, including what areas not to spend too much time studying."
Enrique Lirag, MD, Nazareth, PA
"I attended the course of lectures in Las Vegas in January 2012. Needless to say, both the venue and the course itself were exceptional. I have been in medical practice since 1979, and in Psychiatry specifically since 1996. I was pleasantly surprised at how much new and useful information was offered during this short preparation course. Not only was it focused and targeted to help doctors refresh their knowledge and assure flawless passing of the Board exam, but also brought my knowledge base to a new level for the future years in practice. I would highly recommend it to my colleagues."
Lolita Aznaurova, MD, Overland Park, KS

"It’s reduced my anxiety significantly and I believe I will spend most of my time reviewing the syllabus, and I feel like I’m pretty well prepared then. It was very clear, to-the-point, not a lot of extraneous information, and very good to explain when we didn’t understand something."
Lynn Thomas, MD, Little Rock, AR
"I have already recommended this course to three psychiatrists that are Board Eligible to gain their certification. If I run across anyone needing to recertify I will do the same. It was an excellent review. Every psychiatrist should have to do it. It is silly to “grandfather” practitioners – the field is changing too fast."
James Pitts, MD, Visalia, CA
"Beat The Boards is a great avenue to have clinical psychiatry distilled into a bouillon cube of concentrated information. But: you have to set aside the time to digest the information. I wish I had heard about it sooner. The review is really excellent."
Gia-Evita Lanzano, MD, Wilton, CA
"This course has a high reassurance value. It not only settles the anxiety about the MOC exam, but also provides refresher material. Dr. Krasuski doesn't want to advertise this, but there was actually a lot of opportunity to update one's knowledge."
Sunday Ilechukwu, MD, Northville, MI

Kent Brockmann, MD, New Richmond, WI

Beat The Boards! Psychiatry MOC Board Review – Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions about Beat The Boards! and American Physician Institute
Is Beat The Boards! different from other board reviews?
Yes, in three main ways:
1. Beat The Boards! board review is the most comprehensive option. More than just a Question Bank of practice questions, each course includes in-depth lectures in a familiar classroom setting presented by expert faculty. This means you get a topic-by-topic review of exactly what’s on the board exam in much greater detail than what you can get from Qbank answer explanations.
2. Because the physician’s schedule is typically a hectic one, Beat The Boards! is optimized for on-the-go review. Components such as the audio-only lecture option, iOS and Andriod app for mobile review, and offline access capability, and a fully-illustrated board-mapped study guide make Beat The Boards! review easy to incorporate at any point in your daily routine.
3. The Triple Trust Guarantee not only gives you a full tuition refund if you don’t pass the exam the first time after taking the course, but it also gives you an extra 10% AND allows you continued access until you pass, for free. This unprecedented guarantee serves to assure you of the confidence we have that Beat The Boards! content is exceptional.
Who produces Beat The Boards! Courses? Where do you get your faculty?
Beat The Boards! board review courses are produced by American Physician Institute for Advanced Professional Studies, LLC (API). API conducts dozens of courses and trains thousands of psychiatrists each year to pass their boards and stay up to date in their fields. Because of its reputation for excellence, American Physician Institute is able to enlist many of the top faculty from the best universities, teaching hospitals and research facilities in the country to provide you with Category 1 CME educational activities.
Do you provide board review for other medical specialties?
Yes! In fact, we provide preparation for dozens of other specialty and subspecialty board exams. Check out www.AmericanPhysician.com for the full list.
Is it likely that my employer will cover my tuition?
Because all Beat The Boards! courses are approved for AMA PRA Category 1 CME credits™, it is likely that your tuition will be reimbursed. You may be surprised at how many residency and fellowship training programs, group practices, and other employers pay for or reimburse you for such Category 1 educational activities. After all, it’s in everyone’s best interests to have you board certified. It really pays to ask your training director, medical director or administrator if you are eligible because some training programs and employers do pay for board exam training. And, if you work for the Federal Government, American Physician Institute is a certified business in the System for Award Management (SAM) database and can accept government checks and credit cards.
Does Beat The Boards! offer any free board review resources?

Is Beat The Boards! Psychiatry MOC review pass-guaranteed?
Yes, all full courses are pass-guaranteed, and backed by the Triple Trust Guarantee. At any time, you can view the Triple Trust Guarantee Terms & Conditions.
What does The Triple Trust Guarantee cover?
If you purchase a course with a “Triple Trust Guarantee” and then do not pass your board exam, API will issue a 100% refund of your paid tuition, plus an additional 10% payment. You’ll also continue to get online course access until you pass the exam, tuition-free. The guarantee expires in the event the exam for which this course is designed is no longer offered by the certifying board.
The Triple Trust Guarantee sounds too good to be true—is it for real?
Yes, it’s completely real. Rest assured, API has always honored its guarantees and always will. The Triple Trust Guarantee is API’s way of demonstrating that it’s just as invested in your success as you are. After all, if you fail your board exam, API will pay a penalty. API will refund your course tuition in full, provide you with a bonus, and allow you continued access to the course tuition-free until you pass your exam for as long as the exam is offered by the certifying board. The guarantee ensures API doesn’t get paid for effort, only for passing results.
Does the Triple Trust Guarantee cover non-tuition course options and upgrades?
No. Course options and upgrades are non-tuition related. Therefore, these fees are not included in any guarantee-related refund payment made under the terms of the Triple Trust Guarantee.
What does The Triple Trust Guarantee cover?
If you register for a board review course with a “Triple Trust Guarantee” and then do not pass your board exam, API will issue a 100% refund of your paid tuition, plus an additional 10% payment. You’ll also continue to get online course access until you pass the exam, tuition-free. The guarantee expires in the event the exam for which this course is designed is no longer offered by the certifying board.
What should I do if I don’t pass my board exam?
First, it’s important to remember that a non-passing result is not necessarily a reflection on your abilities as a psychiatrist. The way the ABPN tests you is not the same as the many ways you’re “tested” as a practicing psychiatrist. Check out this reassuring video from Dr. Jack - What To Do If You Fail Your Board Exam https://www.beattheboards.com/video-what-to-do-fail-your-board-exam/
More to the point, American Physician Institute can work with you to help you get over this professional hurdle. Give us a call!
I didn’t pass my board exam. How do I activate my course guarantee?

To be eligible for the refund portion of the Guarantee you must submit your documents within 45 days of the date of your exam fail notification. To notify American Physician and submit your documents, go to your course dashboard and click on the Guarantee tab. Complete the form and attach your exam notification and scores. You will receive an email confirmation of receipt and someone will contact you shortly.
