Kristina Sowar, MD is board certified in Child and Adolescent, and General Psychiatry, and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at University of New Mexico. Dr. Sowar completed her medical school training at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, her internship at the Santa Rosa Family Medicine Program in Northern California, and her residency and fellowship at the University of New Mexico. Her current work spans a realm of Psychiatric care; she attends on an inpatient adolescent unit, works as part of the Child Consult-Liaison team, sees adults and children in an outpatient eating disorder clinic, performs electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), and covers call in the emergency room. Her primary areas of interest are in mental health crisis care, and eating disorder treatment, and currently is working on publications regarding pediatric crisis care and ECT.
